Abstract

This work aims to redefine the role of the Buenos Aires elite in the stockbreeding economy during the period 1650-1750. It evaluates the opening overseas in the agrarian structures impact and its correlation in the performance of the landowner sector. This analyzes the productive matrix of the foreign trade and the weight of the livestock goods in the pattern of accumulation. It emphasizes the strategic function of the Salinas in la pampa and the importance of the food industry for the operation of the shipping marketplace. It proposes a critical revision of the cumulative logic of the commercial capital.
