The temporalization of power: the king, the saints and seigneurial rents in Medieval Portugal (1248-1279)

Abstract
This article analyzes the problem of seigneurial time in the Portuguese royals on the second half of the 13th century. The analysis of the documents seeks to demonstrate that the "natural time" was subordinate to the "holy time" by the Church, and appropriate for the royalty in its process of affirmation, insofar as it symbolically connected the king and the saints at the time of rents payment, which we call here “temporalization of power”.
